Applications are invited for a tenure-track position (Assistant/Associate Professor/Professor) in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the Duke University Medical Center. The department provides a focus for a vast range of research activities from genetic analysis using microbial, invertebrate, and mammalian systems, to viral, fungal and bacterial pathogenesis. We are currently seeking an individual who will develop an outstanding research program using a genetic approach in a multi-cellular organism to a significant biological or disease-related question. Current strengths in genetics in the department include recombination and repair, sensory/behavioral genetics, developmental genetics, human genetics/genomics and animal models of disease. Regardless of the species/system employed, we seek individuals with research programs that use a genetic approach to provide mechanistic insight into the chosen problem.
The facilities and start-up support provided by the Department are excellent. The development of interdisciplinary programs at Duke University, including the Institute for Genome Science and Policy, affords a rich environment for scientific interactions.
Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a brief description of research accomplishments, a description of plans for future research, and the names and contact information (email addresses) for three individuals that can serve as references. These items should be emailed as a single pdf to MGMSearch2009@mc.duke.edu.
The deadline for receipt of applications is January 15, 2009. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Duke University is An Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
